Theme Song Of Gogurt's Life

Brad took the kids to the library yesterday evening and since my husband is obsessed with all things music, he came home with CDs, not books.

To my surprise he had Brad Paisley's new CD This is Country Music.  I was surprised since the library usually doesn't have new releases for checkout!

We had never listened to an entire Brad Paisley CD before, and to be honest, I've never considered him one of my faves, sometimes his songs can be a little, well, goofy.  That's just what he's known for, or I thought that's what he was known for.  Maybe I was wrong.

Brad put this CD into his laptop and I'm not kiddin' ya, by the end of it we were both crying.  Well, I was crying and Brad was close to crying.

Yes, there are some goofy songs on there, like "Don't Drink The Water" and the one I'm gonna share with you below.  But for the most part these songs tackle some serious issues and yes, there are some seriously romantic songs on there too.

Even if you do not think you are a country music fan, I guarantee this CD could change your mind.  It's that good.  There's a little something for everyone.

And there was something especially special for Gogurt.  We almost couldn't believe our ears when we listened to the following song.  It is Gogurt's theme song of life.  He wears camouflage at some point in every single day.  Yes, it's annoying to me as his mother because he looks handsome in so many different colors, but his favorite color is........

Okay, if camouflage is patriotic, I guess won't fuss at Gogurt too much for wearing it EVERY SINGLE DAY.

(P.S.  Go get this CD)

A Song For Your Weekend

I haven't shared any music with y'all in a while, and this one definitely struck a chord with me. Just this past Tuesday night while having dinner at a couple's home, we made plans to bring the kids back out there to fish in their pond. And then by chance, I saw this video, sniff, sniff, where's the Kleenex...?

BTW, an interesting but sad note is that the house featured in this video is Trace Adkins' home, the one that burned just this week. You can read about the house fire here.

An Old Lady and Her Piano

Back in April I attended the Extraordinary Women Conference.  Just the other day the Lord brought back to mind a conversation I had with two nice women I sat beside.

The two women were sisters, and they were around my mom's age.  They both had out their cell phones and were receiving texts, etc. on them during the conference.  I have to admit, I thought to myself, "Hmmm, it's not just the younger generation addicted to these things, huh?"

But later on during one of the breaks, we were talking, and they explained why they felt the need to stay in touch.

Their mother was still alive - I can't remember exactly how old they said she was, but it was upper 90s.  She had fallen and broken her hip that past week and they were concerned about her.  I could tell these sisters really loved their mother because their face lit up as they told me stories about her.  One of their stories is what I want to share with you.

Their mother was the church pianist in her younger days, and apparently after all these years she could still sit down and play hymns.

The daughters were laughing and telling me they would request a hymn, any hymn, and she would start playing it.  Amazing!  But then they told me no matter what hymn she started playing, the tune always ended up being "Mansion Over The Hilltop."

Now, as a pianist, this is impressive to me.  She could play any song by memory, then fit "Mansion Over The Hilltop" in that song no matter what key.  Wow!

As Christians, shouldn't we be the same way?  No matter what we start off doing, saying, or singing, we should always end up telling others about what Jesus is preparing for us on the other side.  That should be our goal - through any conversation, particularly with those who do not know the Lord, to tell them about Heaven and how to get there.

I pray that my life and my words will do just that.  But if I'm honest, I'm not great at it.  I'm not even kinda good at it.  I tend to let life bog me down into thinking about the here and now more than the hereafter.

When I'm 90-something, I wonder if I'll still be pecking out hymns on my old piano.  I sure hope so.

A Little Casting Crowns For Your Day

Watch the video or just listen to the words, but don't let the message escape you.....

The First Step Is The Hardest

Those of you who know me know I LOVE Casting Crowns. Their music has gotten me through some really rough times. It seems no matter what I'm feeling or going through, they have a song that ministers to me and says exactly what I am feeling but just can't put into words.

Brad is beginning the application process to seminary. He has filled out the application and handed out letters of recommendation. He spoke to someone on the phone yesterday at the extension office and was very encouraged by the conversation. He is hoping to take two classes in the fall.

This is very daunting. We've almost talked ourselves out of it several times and in fact there are voices, both in our heads and literally, that are discouraging us. Past failures are haunting us, but, as this song will say so clearly, we are striving to listen and believe the "Voice Of Truth."

Enjoy.
